I was listening to some of Sade's music, which is also timeless, and decided to do a sketch of her. She's not to bad looking for her age if you know what I'm saying. After all, if I were 10 years older and she was...........................well I'm just saying.

You would have to be blind to not see that ray charles loved what he did for a career. His love of music is equal to my love of art. I enjoyed working on this piece and it didn't take me very long.

My man, ray charles. He was truly ahead of his time and his music is timeless. If you have never heard any of his stuff check it out. NOW! As for the image, this is a sketch that I plan on turning into a portfolio piece.

I'm pretty much finished with this piece. I don't think it looks to bad for my third digital piece.

This is my third digital piece. I decided to do Barack Obama, I'm still going to work in this piece but I just wanted to show my progress so far.

I got a little side tracked with my family being in town to visit and trying to finish up another painting, but i eventually got back to business. This is the "Jesus Christ" painting so far

I thought that it would be a good idea to show the progress of the Jesus Christ portrait as i work on it.

Tuesday, July 7, 2009

Ok, so mom has been asking me to do a portrait of Jesus Christ that she can hang up in her house for a long time. So i finally gave in, i figured that since she gave birth to me and all, it's the least i could do. Here is a quick sketch. Some things may change in the actual artwork but that's expected.

This is some freelance work that i was fortunate to come across. The job is for this guy who owns a bar and makes special labels for his own beer. he requested frogs sitting on greek columns (don't know why) so i did my best not to rip off the budwieser frogs and decided to go with rain forest tree frogs. here is a preliminary sketch.

Hello everyone, I know i've been off the art grid for a while but i just relocated to Dallas, Texas and it is stupid hot down here but i would take the heat in texas over the snow in ohio any day. This is my self portrait and its 99.9% finished at least that's how i feel about it.

Animal Study

These are some animal studies that did at the Columbus zoo, I would highly recommend it because you can only get so much from looking at photos.

I was driving home one day and thought to myself, "Man i don't have a good and recent self portrait". So i sat down and made a quick sketch and hopefully this will blossom into a full color portfolio piece.

Here it is, I finally finished the Johnny Appleseed piece. I wanted the apple to be the focal point of the piece so I also thought it would be interesting to remove the saturation from one image and only leave color in the apples. I would like to know your opinion about which one looks better.

The piece below (David & Goliath) was inspired by Frank Frazetta a famous fantasy artist. I bought a book of his with prints of his artwork. I'm not really  a fantasy art guy but I have a lot of respect for it so I thought that it would be interesting to attempt to do a painting in that style.
